Dr Walter Bishop - John Noble
Scientific genius of his day, Bishop senior worked on some of the most innovative - and ethically ambiguous - research projects for the US government, until a strange accident during one experiment left an assistant dead and Walter admitted to a mental institution. Olivia and Bishop's estranged son Peter will need to undo the effects of 20 years of confinement to unlock the secrets of fringe science from Walter's mind.

Phillip Broyles - Lance Reddick
Broyles is the straight-talking agent leading the US Government's investigation into 'The Pattern', the name given to the sequence of strange phenomena happening around the world. He's put together the unlikely team of Agent Dunham, Walter and Peter Bishop to find out who or what is behind the happenings. Broyles will himself face the challenge of politically outmanoeuvring those who don't want the truth uncovered.
