Switching to Sky from someone else?
If you already have broadband from another provider, or you currently receive it over cable, you can switch to Sky Broadband and we'll help you try to minimise disruption to your service.
To make the switch to Sky Broadband and Sky Talk really simple just follow these steps.
1. First book and install Sky TV. You can also order Sky Broadband and Sky Talk
Your Sky equipment will need to be connected to an active phone line.
2. Contact your current provider to get a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC)
You should be able to get this in 5 working days. Your MAC will be 17-18 digits long
and will look something like this: BBDS12345678/9AB12
3. Give us a call to activate Sky Broadband and Sky Talk
Once you have your MAC, call us as soon as you can as it expires in 30 days.
Then give us 14 days and we will set everything up for you.
4. We'll let you know when your Sky Broadband will go live
To tell you when your Sky Broadband will go live, we'll send you a letter. You should only
be without internet access for about 30 minutes to 2 hours on the day of the switchover.
What is a MAC?
The MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) allows you to switch broadband provider seamlessly. By using a MAC this ensures a smooth transition and you should only be without internet access for approximately 30 minutes-2 hours on the day of the switchover.
Your MAC will be 17-18 digits long and should look similar to one of these examples:
BBIP12345678/9AB12
BBDS12345678/9AB12
TIP123456789/AB12C
LXXX1234567/DC22J
How do I get a MAC?
Simply call your current provider and ask them for a MAC to move your broadband services to Sky. The good news is they should provide this to you within 5 working days. Be careful though, as the MAC has an expiry time on it of 30 days so make sure you provide it to us as soon as you can.
